CleanSpark Increases Mining Capacity With New Bitmain Rigs
Bitcoin miner CleanSpark has announced it is expanding its mining capacity in the United States with the purchase of 20,000 new Antminer S19j Pro+ units for a total cost of $43.6 million. This acquisition is expected to boost CleanSpark’s computing power by 37%, bringing their total number of miners purchased during this bear market up to 46,500.
Rig Performance & Delivery Details
The rigs being purchased are 22% more productive than their previous models and will be delivered between March and May. CleanSpark is also leveraging market lower prices on rigs in order to increase its mining capacity as Bitcoin’s price rebounds.
Bitmain Coupon Discount Applied
CleanSpark applied coupons at a 25% discount, resulting in a total price per terahash (TH) of approximately $13.25 for each machine. According to data from Hashrate Index, current prices per TH for ASICs with similar Bitcoin mining efficiency are currently at $15.09 – much lower than the same figure 12 months ago ($90.72).
Better ROI Compared To Previous Models
The Antminer S19j Pro+ model offers a better return on investment compared to other machines in the same ASIC-generation. Each machine provides 122 terahash per unit while saving an average of 2 joules per terahash compared to other S19j Pro models.
Boosting Computing Power By 37%
After these miners become fully operational, they are expected add 2.44 EH/s (exahashes per second) to Clean Spark’s existing 6.6 EH/s computing power – resulting in a 37% increase overall.
